Local Teams Compete in Region 6 Basketball Tournament

Lambert, North, South and West Forsyth High School teams get ready to play this week.

 

The 2013 Region 6 AAAAAA boys and girls basketball tournament gets underway this week as nearby Alpharetta High School plays host. The action begins Tuesday, Feb. 12, with the girls and Wednesday, Feb. 13, with the boys. The championship games are on Saturday, Feb. 16.

Girls – Tuesday, Feb. 12

Semifinals will be Friday, Feb. 15, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. the championship game will be Saturday, Feb. 16 at 5:30 p.m., with the third place bracket at 2:30 p.m.

Boys - Wednesday, Feb. 13

  • The North Forsyth High Raiders, the fifth seed in the regional tournament, will play the fourth seed, the Centennial Knights, at 4 p.m.
  • Sixth seed South Forsyth War Eagles tip off against the Lambert Longhorns at 5:30 p.m.
  • Like the girls, the Johns Creek Gladiators boys team plays the Alpharetta High Raiders. But the Gladiators are the seventh seed and the Raiders are the second seed in the game, which will tip off at 7 p.m.
  • The first seed Chattahoochee Cougars play the eighth seed West Forsyth War Eagles at 8:30 p.m.

The semifinals will be on Friday, Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The boys championship will be on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m., with the third place bracket at 4 p.m.

The state basketball tournament will be held next week at Georgia Tech for the girls and boys, with the championship game on March 9 at the Macon Centerplex.
