Condoleezza Rice as Romney VP? Share Your Thoughts

The former Secretary of State under George W. Bush has been reported as a candidate.

The speculation on who will become Mitt Romney's choice as running mate on the GOP ticket has identified a familiar name: Condoleezza Rice.

The former Secretary of State under President George W. Bush was named by the Drudge Report, a conservative website, as a frontrunner, according to ABC News.

Rice, now at Stanford University, is on vacation this weekend, according to her spokesperson. The Romney campaign has not commented on the report, ABC said.

According to the ABC report, the Washington Post published an op-ed recently about how some conservatives view Rice favorably because she’s the “anti-Palin,” and then Bill Kristol predicted that she is a frontrunner, because Ann Romney told CBS that they are considering a woman vice presidential candidate.

Rice, 57, was born in Birmingham, Ala. She was National Security Adviser under George W. Bush before becoming Secretary of State.

Condi would be a great choice for VP for 2012. That said I do not believe she has any desire to be president. Therefore I would recommed that Mitt pick her for his first term and agree, in advance, that she will decline to be his VP in 2016 so Marco Rubio can be selected and be "set up" for a presidental bid in 2020.

Chris Christy is the perfect "in your face" balance to the general perception of Mitt's gentlemanly "patricianism". Mitt needs a tough mouthpiece

Mrs. Rice would be an excellent choice. She carries herself with dignity and respect and chooses carefully what she says and how she says it. She is an outstanding role model for the women and girls of this country. I've read her biography and can't think of a better choice.

Condi has given her all, and deserves a life of her own! To be sure she is extremely qualified, but right now I don't think we need a woman, or a role model. There are frightening and threatening things going on overseas, and we need someone who will make the world sit up and listen!!!!!

She is the type of person we need in public service. What I would hope is that the level of the political debate would be elevated to an honest, objective issues discussion. I don't know that someone of her quality would want to be a part of the campaign as it is unfolding though. Too bad. These people running the campaigns now insult our intelligence.

Disaster!!!!! She is pro-choice and pro-affirmative action. She is a product of affirmative action. She is also a warmonger.

She is professional, intelligent, well-spoken and 100% American! She stands behind our troops and will certainly be a great asset for the Romney cammpaign!

I think that Condolezza Rice would change the face of politics (for the better). We trust her. She is everything this country needs to regain it's respectability in the world arena. She believes in the true American spirit. Condi, WE NEED YOU!

I think Condi would be a good choice in terms of ability. She could do the job hands down. Unfortunately, she is a political liability because she will always be associated with the George W. Bush administration, a regime still deeply unpopular with many on the Left and Right. (Deeply unpopular with the Left because he had an (R) next to his name. Deeply unpopular on the right for a number of reasons: Medicare Part D, No Child Left Behind, Invasion of Iraq.) She would be tarred and feathered by association.

I do not think any association with GW would hurt Condi. I am disappointed that she is even mildly pro-choice. I don't think that would be a priority on her agenda, but my personal favorite and I believe Romney's best choice would be Marco Rubio. He is smart and passionate about America.
