Tea Party Tips its Cup to Boff

Forsyth County Commission Chair Jim Boff receives Tea Party endorsement.

The Forsyth County Tea Party (FCTP) has endorsed Jim Boff, Commission Chairman, who is running for re-election in District 5.

The 400-member party made it official last week.

"He has done an excellent job representing the interests of the citizens of Forsyth County, especially in the water negotiations," said newly elected Tea Party Chairman Hal Schneider in a press release. "His votes are always in the interest of the county and not the special interest groups that control some of the other commissioners. He is a fiscal conservative and definitely for limited government."

Boff, a conservative Republican, said he is honored to receive the support of the FCTP.

"The Tea Party is a grassroots organization that has grown into a meaningful group of citizens and voters, and I was thrilled to learn Tuesday evening [June 19] that I was endorsed unanimously by the Tea Party as their candidate for the District 5 commission seat," he said.

"The support of any voter or group is a humbling experience in and of itself and I value this as we continue to campaign for forthright, conservative and open governance in Forsyth County," said Boff.

Boff, a retired executive in the field of technical sales support of voice, data and optical fiber equipment, and his wife, Cindy, have two daughters Emily and Lillian. The family attends Cumming First United Methodist Church.

As a member of the Tea Party Patriots, I am highly offended that this group of renegade tea baggers, led by activist Hal Schneider, endorsed Boff based on politics and not on Tea Party Patriot values! Schneider engineered this sham as payback because he used Boff as an obstructionist in the water talks.

Boff wanted to buy the Lanier golf course with taxpayer money to protect his buddies and wasted taxpayer money fighting his personal battle.

Boff wants to put restrictions on every landowner in the county to protect another one of his supporters. He supported the failed property maintenance ordinance that required everyone to keep the grass mowed and weeds out of the flower beds, among other intrusions on personal freedoms.

Boff said at the recent GOP debate that "the good of the most" usually outweighs the rights of an individual in reference to government condemning and taking private property.

The real Tea Party movement believes in limited government, fiscal responsibility, personal rights and responsibilities and in the free market as the basis of all business conducted within our borders.

Not only has Boff never shown a shred of interest in these values, he has not done anything of merit on this board of commissioners. Way to go Schneider. As a tea bagger you have really let the real Tea Party down with your politics and disregard for ethics and principle.

J. Redd...........Do you know what a "tea bagger" is? I am highly offended that you would use a "progressive/liberal, copy cat term".
You can state your point without calling disgusting names.

J Redd is a liberal, period. Nice try, though. Jim Boff is the best thing to happen to this county in a long time...a much-needed dose of responsible action that benefits the community instead of a choice few.

So, attempting to protect the county from the continued fleecing by the city to the tune of $3.5 million annually for finished water that the county will not need is now defined as obstructionism! Mr. Redd, you must live in bizarro world!

I guess if the water is the only criteria you might be right. What about the other concerns?

Just for the record, I was an eye witness to Mr. Boff's lack of character and conviction during a commissioners meeting some time back. I watched with interest as Jim Boff first voted "for" an issue, and then, after seeing that he was going to be on the losing side based upon the other commissioners initial votes, turned and voted "against" the same issue in the final vote. I was shocked and disappointed.

And again, just for the record, when I contacted Mr. Boff to get an explanation for his actions, he admitted what he had done, and then stated "Well, at least I didn't lie about it". Clearly he wanted to be able to say he voted for, or against the issue, depending on whom he was talking to. That's just great!

No, this is not the type of person the good people of Forsyth County should have representing them. Just one man's opinion....... you decide for yourself.

BTW - I am a conservative and proud of it. Forsyth County is a great place to live.

I would like to give the Tea Party a chance to respond to the other items I mentioned about Mr. Boff and his record.

I would also like Mr. Schneider to give the readers some level of comfort that the whole "endorsement" process was not a sham.

Lastly, Mr. Boff should at least come clean and admit this so called news story is really a press release created by his campaign.
