Cumming Man Dies Following Car Accident

A 73-year-old man from Cumming dies several hours later after being involved in a car accident on Diplomat Drive and Highway 141.

A 73-year-old Cumming man involved in a car accident around 6 p.m. Thursday in south Forsyth County died several hours later, according to authorities.

"Approximately 6 hours later the driver [Raymond Cunningham] of vehicle # 1 had a heart attack and died as a result," stated Capt. Tim House of the in an e-mail to Cumming Patch.

Cunningham, who was driving westbound on Diplomat Drive in his 1999 Cadillac Deville, was trying to make a left turn onto the southbound lane of Highway 141, but did not yield to a 2003 BMW driven by Lisa McNally, 40, of Suwanee.

According to the incident report, because Cunningham did not yield to McNally, this caused her to crash into the Cadillac sending it across the southbound lane of Highway 141 and eventually stopping off of the roadway.

Due to the injuries Cunningham sustained, the deputy at the scene issued a citation to Cunningham's wife who was also at the scene.

Cunningham was taken to North Fulton Hospital and McNally was transported to .

Alcohol and drugs do not seem to be a factor in the crash, according to House.
