A stop early Saturday morning to check an abandoned car on Interstate 75 led to the discovery of a body that had been struck by several vehicles, spokesman Gordy Wright said.
Authorities on Tuesday identified the deceased man as Shannon Larry Chumbler, 37, of Cumming.
On Saturday, April 21, around 1:35 a.m., a deputy with the pulled to the side of I-75 northbound near Glade Road in Acworth and saw Chumbler's body in a travel lane. Authorities say oncoming traffic had hit the man multiple times, but it also appears he was in a travel lane on initial impact.
