Early Voting Continues through Nov. 4

Forsyth County residents have until Friday, Nov. 4 to vote early in the Special Election on Nov. 8.

Early voting for the Nov. 8 Special Election of the special purpose local option sales tax, (SPLOST VII) continues through Friday, Nov. 4.

Forsyth County registered voters can continue casting their ballots at the Forsyth County Administration Building through Friday, Oct. 28 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Then on Monday the hours will be extended and four additional locations will be available as advance voting begins.

According to Barbara Luth, supervisor of Voter Registrations and Elections, early voting has been going slow.

"We have a little over 380 of the number who voted in our office and we've mailed out about 70 ballots and we've received about 25 back [as of Wednesday, Oct. 26]," she said.

During advance voting the following locations will be open Monday, Oct. 31 through Friday, Nov. 4. The hours are Monday/Wednesday/Friday  8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday  8 a.m. - 7 p.m.

  • Hampton Park Library (new location), 5345 Settingdown Road, Cumming
  • Cumming City Hall (new location), 100 Main Street, Cumming
  • Forsyth County Administration Building, 110 E. Main Street, Cumming
  • Midway Park Community Building, 5100 Post Road, Cumming

The following locations are no longer open for advance voting:

  • Cumming Public Library
  • Forsyth County Public Safety Complex
  • Sharon Forks Library
  • Forsyth County Sexton Hall (formerly known as Lakeland Community Church)

Voters also have the option of taking advantage of absentee voting by mail through the close of business on Friday, Nov. 4.

"People that don't want to come in and vote and they can be elderly, disabled, going to be out of town–you really don't have to have a reason for voting by mail anymore," Luth said. "If you just want to have the ballot mailed to you and then fill it out, mail it or bring it back into us, you can."

There is no absentee, early or advance voting the Monday (Nov. 7) prior to any election.
