The President’s 2012 State of the Union put forth a comprehensive plan based on logic a majority of Americans have been waiting to hear.
The local Republican party was critical of the President’s address, particularly the word "I." It is this writer’s opinion, the President played cordial politics, attempting joint collaboration of Congress, both House and Senate on both sides of the aisle, far too long. The political lines drawn in the sand crippled and hog tied our nation several occasions these past three years. Both guilty parties needing reprimand for obsessing over differences, forgetting their oath of office and allegiance. Politicians nationwide are guilty of pledging allegiance to a man (Grover Norquist) with neither the interest of this nation nor it’s citizens, but rather this nation crumble before this President is successful. With this sick conspiracy and propaganda in congressional halls, the call for executive orders for the well being of the entire nation was not heard quickly enough. This least
popular Congress (8-10% approval) has accomplished nothing, created irresponsible situations, and should not be re-elected.
Following the wisdom reserved for military: push education requiring all students to graduate high school, make higher education affordable/practical for every American; energy independence would serve national security and innovative job creation to restore our economy; maintain a sufficient military; reduce unnecessary spending and outdated red tape; work smarter not harder.
Previously, the President proposed plans similar to the TWA and Roosevelt era. Now, repair the infrastructure of this nation, not only for commerce but national security; reduce energy waste, make government buildings energy efficient. Restructure tax laws, no off shore tax loop holes, no corporate subsidies, eliminate temporary millionaire tax cuts. Ban insider trading for Congress, it’s
illegal for everyone else.
The President is absolutely correct, restore the economy, give everyone a fair shot playing by the same rules, reward workers that deserve recognition and no out sourcing jobs. The Republicans felt the President revealed his playbook, they must not have previously listened. Same message, just firmer. The President can’t do it alone, tell Congress to work for the interest of the country or get
out. One may need to be red or blue to get elected. In office, constituents’ interest, not corporate, should be the motivation.
Respectfully,
Sharon Gunter, Chair

Sharon you write; "push education requiring all students to graduate high school, make higher education affordable/practical for every American;" Education is expensive due to gub'mint interference. When money is poured into schools it returns sloth. It is immoral for gub'mint to force anything on the people. This is not Mao's china. Requiring all students to graduate high school is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Some just don't care about school and never will. Should we force you to learn to use a 45 cal revolver so you can take responsibility for your own safety?
We've spent billions on education in the past 60 years and President reads a State of the Union speech written to the third grade level.

Sharon you write; "energy independence would serve national security and innovative job creation to restore our economy;" You've been scammed. The scion of Liberal Democrats James Earl Carter cut a deal with the Saudis in the late 70's. In return for campaign contributions to Democrats, the Department of Energy caused dependence on foreign oil by restricting our own drilling.
The Saudi government is a top down centralized Sharia society that requires the leaders give "Zakat" welfare by Muslims for Muslims. The Saudi leaders need this oil money to shower on the people. The Democrats materially participate in the ruination of millions of Saudi citizens at the hands of dictators in Saudi Arabia.
It's obvious you are a True Believer. A Democrat that would enslave millions on food stamps, ruin our schools, and pay-off cronies and crooks. Good Job.

So we commented on Sharon's writings, let's now look at the Presidents pablum.
The President claimed in his speech:
It’s time to apply the same rules from top to bottom: No bailouts, no handouts, and no cop-outs.
Then went on to say:
We bet on American workers. We bet on American ingenuity. And tonight, the American auto industry is back. . . .
That’s why I’m sending this Congress a plan that gives every responsible homeowner the chance to save about $3,000 a year on their mortgage, by refinancing at historically low interest rates. . . .
Bailouts of those who made mistakes and sold their homes at a loss while those who didn't make bad decisions are forced to bail them out.

Obama's pablum again.
Claim:
That’s why my education reform offers more competition, and more control for schools and States.
Contradiction:
[We will force] every state to require that all students stay in high school until they graduate or turn eighteen . . . stop the interest rates on student loans from doubling . . . [and] extend the tuition tax credit. . . .
States need to do their part by making higher education a higher priority in their budgets.

Sharon, you have a misguided and simplistic view of the problems and solutions that face our country. Our govt. education is teaching Americans to be subservient to the state. It should make parents true stakeholders, like allowing them to use whatever educational method works for them, not forcing them to buy into a broken, corrupt govt. system.
The TWA and Roosevelt era put our country into deep debt; we have never been debt-free since. Our tax laws are so screwed up that it is better to do business outside of U.S. You don’t fix that by making more laws; you fix that by getting rid of the harmful laws.
It’s a mathematical fact that there isn’t enough money held be millionaires to even make a dent in our budget spending. And Pelosi and Reid, the biggest recipients of insider trading in this administration, are not about to change those laws.
Your response is like one written to a child, without depth or understanding of the true problems. It shouldn’t be surprising, though, since you are representing an audience that believes in the government more than in themselves.

Simple, direct and to the point is generally the least cumbersome way to attack a problem situation and certainly takes the least amount of time to arrive at ones destination. I certainly never implied parents would not be stakeholders in their children's education, in fact they should be engaged in the entire package of their child's development.
I don't believe America has ever been debt free but putting people to work certainly allowed men to earn a wage to feed their family."reduce unnecessary spending and outdated red tape" includes getting rid of harmful laws.
No where did I imply either party was without blame, in fact, I feel we need term limits for congress. For the most part, we send honest, trust worthy people to Washington and in less than 2 terms, sometimes less than 1 term, between the money in politics and favors one owes to get a bill passed, they are ineffective and couldn't begin to tell you what their constituents want or need must less care. They all need to be replaced if for no other reason they have been in their position so long they have lost touch with reality. Neither party puts anyone in office by themselves.
If the majority of millionaires' tax returns are similar to Newt's and Romney's, they pay little or no taxes. So any additional tax they pay, will make a dent to a certain degree.
Innovative thinking, creating jobs in clean energy industries doesn't sound like one lacking self confidence, waiting on the government for anything.

When one doesn't have adequate knowledge pertaining to a subject, then their offense consists solely of attacks directed at the messenger because they lack the ability to give a viable solution..

True statement Sharon you do NOT "have adequate knowledge pertaining to a subject"; especially the one you wrote of above. The Democrats only solutions for the past 70 years are to steal from us and reward crooks you've aligned yourselves with.

Obama paid less taxes than we did and we are middle America. What i know is that when you earn enough to be fortunate enough to make investments, you are actually being taxed TWICE. first when you earn monies and again the gains from your investments or capital gains or with stock sales etc... There are many scenarios. All of which are legal and accepted... anyone even mentioned Adjusted Gross Income or the 50-75% France is paying in taxes?
