Forsyth County Eagle Still Missing
The bronze eagle sculpture has been missing since early last week.
A bronze sculpture of an eagle taken last week from a Forsyth County recreational area is still missing.
The sculpture was located at the Bethelview Road trail head of the Big Creek Greenway multi-use trail in south Forsyth. Officials believe the sculpture was taken on Aug. 27 or 28.
"There are no new developments regarding the missing sculpture," said Jodi Gardner, director of communications for the county, in an e-mail to Cumming Patch. "Anyone with information is asked to contact the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office South Precinct at 770-781-3047."
The eagle sculpture is estimated to be approximately 6-feet-tall, with an approximately 8-foot wingspan. It weighs approximately 400-pounds and was funded by a grant. The sculpture was installed at the trail head in April.
“This is the first time something of this nature has occurred at a Forsyth County park or recreational area,” said Jerry Kinsey, Parks and Recreation director. “It is certainly our hope that the sculpture will be returned.”

Do we have to have security cameras on everything?

I agree unequivocally. They need to find the persons responsible and hold them accountable. Gates are locked at dark, this thing was way off Bethelview, and very heavy.. someone had to go to a lot of trouble and it's amazing they could do that without anyone seeing anything!

Hopefully the same people that steal sewer covers for scrap metal money are not behind this theft or it's gone forever.
