Forsyth County Sheriff Honored by Georgia State University
Sheriff Ted Paxton receives the 2012 Distinguished Alumni Service Award.
Forsyth County Sheriff Ted Paxton was honored recently by the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies at Georgia State University, according to a news release.
Paxton received the Department's 2012 Distinguished Alumni Service Award on Wednesday, April 18.
"Sheriff Paxton's extensive contributions to law enforcement and other aspects of public safety, as well as his service to the community, are commendable," said Brian Payne, Ph.D., chairman of the department in the news release.
The award is given annually in recognition of the "life-time" achievement of a GSU Criminal Justice alumnus who has excelled in the field.
Paxton, who is seeking his fourth term as sheriff of Forsyth County, is a 1993 graduate of GSU. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice while employed as a police officer at the DeKalb County Police Department.
Editor's Note: Cumming Patch is not affiliated with nor endorses any candidate running for public office.

Congratulations to Sheriff Paxton. This is such an honor. Forsyth County has been very fortunate to have a sheriff of his caliber. His background and knowledge has served our County well. We are looking forward to 4 more years.

Four more years of overspending, buying millions of dollars worth of "toys" out of Drug Seizure accounts and he believing it is "his" money he is spending. Not in my lifetime will he every get another vote from me. Twelve years is enough of the culture of Dekalb County in our County!

Kevin and Margaret - hey he runs a moral and efficient law enforcement agency. He told me himself. Never mind a Deputy having sex on the hood of his car with an 18 year old; never mind laying is a doorway with low blood sugar (lols); never mind a a Deputy wrecking his car drunk after slashing his girlfriends tires, and never mind he thinks he's legally separated from the woman he lives with when Georgia does NOT recognize legal separations. Last there is no 911 Call. Nope. Does not exist.
