Thirty-five Forsyth County students from local middle and high schools have successfully completed two rounds of auditions against thousands of students from across the state to earn a spot in the 2012 Georgia All State Band and Orchestra concert.

The students will perform on Saturday, March 3 at the Savannah Civic Center in Savannah. The event will be hosted by the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), a non-profit organization made up of approximately 4000 music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education.

Scott McCloy, director of Lambert High School's band and orchestra, told Cumming Patch the performance will be fantastic. He said the students will work on the music at least a day and half before the concert.

"The performances are absolutely spectacular," said McCloy. "If anybody wants a weekend in Savannah – their going to be in for a heck of a show – it is fantastic every year."

The concerts are free, open to the public and begin at noon. 

Below are the names of the students performing. If a student has an asterisk next to their name it signifies they are the principal chair (meaning they had the highest score on their instrument in each ensemble).
