Forsyth County Schools will be represented by four teams in the Georgia High School Association girls basketball tournaments, which begin this weekend all across the state.

Teams from North Forsyth, Forsyth Central, West Forsyth and Lambert high schools all reached the state tournaments in their respective classifications, based on their performances in last week’s region tournaments.

North Forsyth and West Forsyth will open play in the Class AAAAA first round Friday night.

North Forsyth (20-8) will host Wheeler (13-14) at 7 p.m. Friday. North, which lost to Alpharetta 38-27 in the Region 6-AAAAA championship last weekend, has won six of its last seven games. Wheeler is the third-place team from Region 5-AAAAA.

West Forsyth’s girls (8-20), who play at Woodstock Friday, are the fourth seed from 6-AAAAA. Woodstock (20-8) is the Region 5-AAAAA champ.

In Class AAAA, Forsyth Central and Lambert both play on the road Friday in the first round.

Forsyth Central (19-9) is at Salem (19-8) in a game matching two teams hoping to renew their early season successes. Central, the third seed from Region 7-AAAA, was 13-3 at one point. Salem, the No. 2 seed from 8-AAAA, was 11-1 at one point.
