A Boy and His Dog - Silent Auction
Where/When: Catch Air, 1515 Redi Rd, Cumming, Friday, Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m.
Why Go?: Join Catch Air for a silent auction to raise money for an Autism Service Dog for Luceas Forester! Catch Air will donate 30 percent of admissions and 30 percent of pizza purchased to this cause, in addition to the proceeds from the silent auction. Bring the kids out for a super fun night!

First Annual Brian Parks Walk and 5K Fun
Where/When: South Forsyth High School, 585 Peachtree Pky, Cumming, Saturday, Oct. 1, registration at 6:45 a.m., run at 8 a.m.
Why Go?: This fun run is in memory of Superman Brian Parks, who lost his battle with brain cancer at the age of 20. Proceeds go to Blue Skies Ministries which offers retreats that help heal and give hope to families dealing with childhood cancer, and the Brian Parks Foundation, Inc. which provides support and assistance to families dealing with childhood cancer. Booths, Hotdogs, Lemon Ice man, Tattoo Artists, Face Painting, Raffles, and more!

The 4th Annual Community Safety Fair
Where/When: Home Depot parking lot, 1000 Marketplace Blvd, Cumming, Saturday, Oct. 1, 9 a.m. - noon.
Why Go?: The event is an opportunity for the community to meet some of Forsyth County's deputies, firefighters, troopers, rangers, EMTs and paramedics who keep our community safe. Get up close and check out SWAT vehicles and equipment, firetrucks, patrol cars, ambulances and even a helicopter. There will be fun and educational activities including a workshop where kids get to build a "fire safety boat." There will be child safety seat checks, hunter and boater safety tips, a moonwalk, K9s, horses from the county's Mounted Patrol Unit, product demos and giveaways, free food and live entertainment.

Why Go: It's that time of the year for a fall festival featuring more than 50 local artisans displaying pottery, art, wood turning demos and more. Delicious foods by Marvin Browns BBQ, Alta Cucina, Nena’s Salsa, Ace Of Tarts, Cake Balls by Nikki, Sarah’s Lemonade, and Ice Cream Truck Family. A

Why Go?: A fun festival to celebrate fall with lots of fun and competitive activities. Games include a doggy fashion show, scarecrow and cobbler contest. Additional fun includes hourly cake walks, singers, dancers, Christian music, a kids play zone and much more. Come out and enjoy a fun day!

Tree Top Canopy Walk and Zip Line
Where/When: Sawnee Mountain Preserve and Visitor Center, 4075 Spot Rd, Cumming, Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.
Why Go?: Experience the tree tops at Sawnee Mountain! Participants will use ropes and harnesses to access the suspension bridge and ride the zip line on the canopy walk. Instruction and equipment will be provided and all climbers remain secured to a safety line the entire time they are off the ground.
Price: $30 for county residents and $36 for non-county residents.
North Metro Light The Night Walk
Where/When: Cumming Fairgrounds, 235 Castleberry Rd, Cumming, Saturday, Oct. 1. Registration and festivities begin at 5 p.m. and the walk starts at 7:30 p.m.
Why Go?: The walk encourages teams of families, friends, co-workers and local and national corporations to come together to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). This will be the fifth Light The Night event held in Georgia and the first in Forsyth County with more than 85 teams and about 2,000 walkers participating. The goal is to raise more than $200,000 for LLS.

Crossroads at Crabapple Antique and Art Festival
Where/When: 765 Mid Broadwell Rd, Milton, Saturday, Oct. 1, 9 a.m.
Why Go?: More than 100 antique dealers and artists will be in Crabapple for one day only, rain or shine. Come enjoy this tradition in Crabapple and find the perfect antique or piece of art. Free admission, trolley ride, and blue grass music add to the fun; plus fabulous food!!

Why Go?: The 6th Annual Scarecrow Harvest is a time when the community comes alive with whimsical scarecrows. Accredited K-5 Schools create approximately 100 scarecrows each year. In addition to the students, we invite businesses, non-profit organizations, neighborhoods, families and individuals to make scarecrows. Anyone is welcome to design a scarecrow personality and join in on the fun! At noon SCARECROW AWARDS and prizes will be given to Accredited K-5 Schools classrooms.

Alpharetta Brew Moon Fest Street Dance, Brew & Shenanigans
Where/When: Historic Downtown Alpharetta Milton Ave & N Main St, Alpharetta, Saturday, Oct. 1, 6:30 p.m. – 11p.m.
Why Go?: The Downtown Alpharetta Trade Association is proud to present the first annual Alpharetta Brew Moon Fest street dance, brew & shenanigans. There will be great food, beer and wine and non-alcoholic beverages for sale, a performance by the Old School Horn Band from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and the headline band Banks and Shane from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

15th Annual Historic Roswell 5K Road Race
Where/When: Roswell United Methodist Church, 814 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell, Saturday, Oct. 1, 9:45 a.m.
Why Go?: This annual 5K road race for runners and walkers begins at 9:45 a.m. on Mimosa Blvd., prior to the Youth Day Parade. The race course will go through Roswell’s beautiful historic district with participants finishing in the Roswell Area Park.

Why Go?: The 61st Annual Frances McGahee Youth Day Parade is sponsored by the City of Roswell to honor and support the youth of Roswell. This year’s theme is “The Rec Makes Life Fun!” Parade line up begins at Roswell First Baptist Church with parade ending at Roswell Area Park. An outdoor festival will be held at Roswell Area Park following the parade.
