Has Technology Extended Your Work Day?
According to a study in the U.K., smart phones have people working an extra two hours a day in Britain. Has your technology extended your work day?
Researchers in the U.K. say a study has found that, thanks to smart-phone technology, Brits work an extra two hours a day or 460 extra hours a year. That’s because they check and respond to emails while they are off the clock.
According to a story in The Daily Mail, the study reveals that the average U.K. working day is between nine or 10 hours, but factor in the smart phone and that swells to 11 or 12 hours a day. The extra two hours are spent responding to work emails or making work phone calls while they're off duty. Some who don’t even have smart phones reportedly confessed to checking work emails on their home computer. According to the study, two-thirds of the respondents check emails before going to bed and again as soon as they get up. One-third confessed to replying to emails in the middle of the night.
So what about you? Has technology increased your work day? Do you no longer leave your work at the office? Does it now follow you home in your smart phone?

Don't set your smart phone to allow email...do work email 9-5 and enjoy your life. The people you work so hard to be with and to provide for need you and miss you...they will realize they can live without you when they get so used to living without you...be fully present. Your kids are growing up and you are missing it! Your relationship will sour...you will grow old and miss your own life! Turn the electronics off!!!!!!!
