In an e-mail to Cumming Patch, the GSP stated no alcohol or drug use was suspected and there is no ongoing investigation.

Original article:

Two people were killed Tuesday morning following a head-on collision on Highway 53 (Dawsonville Highway) in northeast Forsyth County, authorities said.

"What it looks like is that one of the cars actually crossed over the line and hit the other car head-on," said Robin Stone of the Georgia State Patrol, Post 37, the agency conducting the investigation.

Stone said the double fatality accident happened around 8:51 a.m. on Highway 53 near Keith Bridge Road.

A press release from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office states that a 42-year-old man, driving a white 1994 BMW, was heading east on Highway 53 and traveled into the westbound lane striking a red 1991 Honda Civic. The driver of that vehicle was a 29-year-old woman from Forsyth County.

She and the man were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been released pending notification of next-of-kin.

Courtney Spriggs of the FCSO said both victims were wearing their seatbelts.

There were no other passengers in either vehicle.

This is the second fatality accident in less than a week in Forsyth County.

I live off of 53 very close to that intersection. The way people drive on 53 is horrific. People need to start being more careful. Slow down and watch for people turning, etc. Too many death on that road.
