Hundreds of Cyclists Took to Area Roads for Tour de Pink

Breast cancer fundraiser held over the weekend at nearby Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park.

Hundreds of bicyclists, some runners and walkers got up very early on a cool Saturday morning to raise some money for charity as the Tour de Pink began in nearby Alpharetta.

The Young Survivors Coalition organizes the Tour de Pink, which raised $250,000 in its first two rides.

The start and finish line were at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta as riders of every skill level got into line for the start of the event. Routes ranged from 100 miles to a 5K that started just moments after the long distance riders headed onto courses created for the mileage they wanted to cover. For safety reasons, all riders had to be done with their ride by 5 p.m.

Riders travelled as far north as Lake Lanier winding their way through Forsyth and North Fulton County.

Survivors also participated in a ceremony before the ride began, paying tribute to their fight against breast cancer and those who they support.
