In Memoriam: George Burton Wade, 83

He was a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from Georgia Power Company after 35 years.

George Burton Wade, 83 of Cumming, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on November 27, 1929, to the late George Raymond and Sylvia Snowdell Butler Wade.

He was a graduate of West Fulton High School and Georgia State University. He was a veteran of the United States Army and he retired from Georgia Power Company after 35 years. He was a beloved greeter at First Baptist of Lilburn and more recently a member of First Redeemer Church and was in the senior adult Sunday school class.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Corliss Ann Wade.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Berry Wade; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn W. and Rev. Chris Holdorf, Patricia Leigh and Bill Bowles; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Christopher and Jill Holdorf; granddaughter, Emily Jean Holdorf; sister-in-law, Dorothy Fields; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in laws, John and Barbara Berry, Sid and Mildred Berry; sister–in-law, Laura Lee Berry; and numerous other relatives.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at the McDonald and Son Chapel. Interment will be held at Georgia National Cemetery, Canton, GA.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
