Kelly Mill Road In Cumming Closes On Monday
Forsyth County closes Kelly Mill Road through the bulk of the summer for improvements.
Kelly Mill Road closes to through traffic from Bethelview Road to the Cumming city limits beginning Monday, June 13 through Friday, August 5. The overall project has an expected completion date of November 20.
“During this time, local traffic will be able to continue driving through the project limits on temporary road surfaces,” Assistant Director of Engineering Tim Allen said.
Over the summer the following improvements will be made:
- Construction of left and right turn lanes at Chamblee Gap Road
- Straightening out three curves
- Lowering a hillcrest at Johnson Road
- Reclaiming existing asphalt pavement and widening travel lanes from Bethelview Road to the Cumming city limits
- Widening shoulders
- Installing guardrails
- Extending storm drains
“A number of improvements will be completed as part of this project, all designed to
make Kelly Mill Road a safer, more efficient road,” Director of Engineering John Cunard said. “We appreciate motorists’ patience during this roadwork.”
According to Forsyth County, the project will be performed by Blount Construction and funded by the current Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program, SPLOST VI.
