Local Bank Gives Away Free Child ID Kits

Chase Bank is giving away free child identification kits Saturday, Aug. 13 to enable parents to have critical information in the event their child goes missing.

In an effort to promote child safety, Chase Bank will be distributing free Child Identification Kits Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its branch located on 5585 Atlanta Highway in nearby Alpharetta.

Included in the kit will be a physical description of the child and a DNA sample. The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to assist with photographing the child as well as fingerprinting (the other two parts of the kit).

These four components make up the critical information that is essential in the event a child becomes missing. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, that number is roughly 2,185 daily and 797,500 children a year.

The Center offers information on child safety on its Web site and suggests these five important tips to share with children:

  • Always check first with a parent, guardian, or trusted adult before going anywhere, accepting anything, or getting into a car with anyone.
  • Do not go out alone. Always take a friend along when going places or playing outside.
  • Say no if someone tries to touch you, or treats you in a way that makes you feel sad, scared, or confused. Get out of the situation as quickly as possible.
  • Tell a parent, guardian, or trusted adult if you feel sad, scared, or confused.
  • There will always be someone to help you, and you have the right to be safe.

For more information regarding missing children in Georgia, please contact the Georgia Bureau of Investigation at 404-486-6420.

Chase Bank may be contacted at 770-521-0389 for further information about the event.

The event will also include refreshments and entertainment, including a visit from the Forsyth County Fire Department.
