UPDATE: Man Dies in Water Line Construction Accident in Nearby Alpharetta

Forsyth County was first called to the scene, but first responders realized the location was in Alpharetta, so the city got the call.

Update: 2-28-13, 8:52 a.m.

A construction worker died in an accident at McGinnis Ferry Road and Windward Concourse early Wednesday afternoon, according to the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety.

Manuel Aguirre, 49, of Duluth, was run over by a backhoe at around noon on Feb. 27. He was dead on the scene, said George Gordon, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.

The victim was working for B&H Construction Co., a subcontractor on a Fulton County water project. The company was laying water lines.

Forsyth County was first called to the scene, but first responders realized the location was in Alpharetta, so the city got the call.

"So we are handling the investigation," Gordon said.

He said OSHA also responded to the scene.

Gordon said it was "a sad way to lose a life."
