More Focus on Chick-fil-A
Lunch lines were out the door at the Chick-fil-A on Atlanta Road in Cumming as political sides in the same-sex marriage controversy have issued "calls to action" at the restaurant chain's outlets.
This could be an interesting week for Chick-fil-A, the Atlanta-based restaurant chain that recently has become a political battleground.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee has called for Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day today and has set up a Facebook page to draw attention.
There are two Chic-fil-A restaurants located in Cumming, 430 Peachtree Parkway and 653 Atlanta Road, where lunch lines were out the door Wednesday.
Also, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is backing a call for a National Same-Sex Kiss Day on Friday, Aug. 3, to be held at Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide.
The controversy, of course, comes from a statement by Chick-fil-A executive Dan Cathy, who supports the view of marriage as between a man and a woman. Dan Cathy, son of company founder Truman Cathy, said the fast-food giant was “guilty as charged” of supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.”
How do you feel about the controversy? Will you patronize or avoid Chick-fil-A on these days because of the so-called "calls to action?" Tell us in the comments below.

I will neither patronize or avoid Chic-Fil-A for their views specifically because they come as no surprise. Their company has always been based on very strict views. Why is that a surprise to anyone????

We should all be avoiding it because it is unhealthy food! Forget the politics.

I am proud of Dan Cathy standing up for Christian values. It is not an easy thing to do in this day and time. Shame on me for being quiet when I know I should speak up just because I don't like confrontation. I choose to support Christian based companies when I can. So YES we will gladly show our support at Chick Fil A tonight! And we will continue to do so in the future!

I find it strange that a certain population is being encouraged to eat junk food, fast food, unhealthy food. Would you also smoke for a "tobacco appreciation day" if told to? Face it, no matter how hard Chick-Fil-A tries to convince you otherwise, their food is unhealthy.

Since when is it improper to voice your opinion? Go to Chic-Fil-A or don't go. It is your choice. Dan Cathy has every right to say how he feels, just like any other law abiding citizen of this country. One does not have to agree.

I completely agree that everyone has a right to express their views. Their actions and dollars should also be taken into account. See my link above.

It was just a chicken sandwich, right?
You really love Chick-fil-A. And if you eat just one sandwich, it’s really not hurting anyone. Right?
Sadly, something as simple as a chicken sandwich has become a symbol of intolerance and hate in a national-scale political debate.
When Chick-fil-A executive Dan Cathy said he was ‘guilty as charged,’ he wasn’t kidding.
Chick-fil-A has donated money that it collects from you and your family to fund groups like the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), an organization that works in secret to fight gay equality. Chick-fil-A also gave money to Exodus International, a group that works with gay Christians to “pray the gay away.”
Is it any wonder that the same week Mr. Cathy proclaimed gay men and women are "inviting God's judgement on our nation," the news was filled with reports of more hate crimes against LGBT citizens?
Discrimination and hate go hand-in-hand.
And Chik-fil-A helps fund both.
As long as you have $5 to spend on a chicken sandwich, Chik-fil-A will have $5 million to support institutionalized hatred.
Until then, it's time to stop supporting hate. It's time to stop supporting Chik-fil-A.Discrimination and hate go hand-in-hand.

To George Wilson's comment: In my opinion, support of an idea does not go hand-in-hand with hate. Because Mr. Cathy is blessed with success and because he funds groups to support God's edicts and precepts does not automatically equate with hate. God is a loving God, which is why he did not make us robots, He gave us free will. Everyone is free to chose their method of living--there are consequences for every decision made--the consequences may result in good or bad. Because groups like LGBT discriminate against Chick-fil-A/Truett Cathy, DanCathy, apparently this means they "hate?" Christians are to hate evil and cleave to what is good, Romans 12:9. This is the only instance Christians are to hate.
