Woodstock Police To Residents: Lock Your Vehicles

The Woodstock Police Department is encouraging its residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables from their cars after recent reports of entering autos in a subdivision. 

The notice, issued Monday evening, stated the department "has recently begun to see a rise in entering autos during the overnight hours where suspects are entering into unlocked vehicles and garages." See Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch for more info.


Woman Arrested for Stealing City Funds

A 44-year-old woman was arrested and charged on two counts of theft by taking, a felony, in connection to an investigation of missing city funds, authorities said in a press release Monday.

Hall County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Maria Arevalo, a city of Flowery Branch employee, on Friday.

The alleged thefts took place between May 23 and August 16, 2012, involving the handling of the daily deposits of city funds. After the matter was brought to the attention of the Flowery Branch Police Department, Chief David Spillars requested an independent investigation by an outside agency since a city employee was suspected of being involved.

The incident remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division.


Car Cut in Half After Hitting Trees, Driver Critical
Canton-Sixes Patch

Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a single vehicle accident on Friday afternoon on Georgia Highway 372, east of Ball Ground, near the Etowah River Bridge.

Emergency service personnel received the call shortly after 5:30 p.m. and responded to the scene of the accident. The accident involved a Ford Mustang that had apparently left the road, went down an embankment and struck some trees. Upon impact, the car was cut in half, ejecting the driver from the vehicle.
