Boy in Critical Condition After Nearly Drowning - Norcross Patch

A 23-month-old boy remained hospitalized Monday after nearly drowning Sunday evening in a swimming pool at the clubhouse of the Menlo Creek Apartments in Duluth.

Gwinnett Police responded to scene at 4370 Satellite Blvd. around 8 p.m. The boy, Jaiden Carnes of Marietta, had been removed from the pool. He was lying on the ground unconscious and unresponsive, and a police officer was performing CPR, according to the police report.

The boy was transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston where he was reported in critical condition Monday.

Worker Dies from Injuries After Being Crushed - Cumming Patch

A 37-year-old man has died from his injuries after being crushed by a piece of machinery Friday afternoon while working at Lakewood 400 Antiques Market in south Forsyth.

When authorities arrived at the scene they found Jose Rodriguez of Buford, laying under a 'pill pusher' also known as a dye press, according to the incident report by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Signs Vandalized With Bow and Arrows - Woodstock Patch

Arrows shot through a sign in protest sounds like something out of the Wild West, but it’s not. It’s reality for the candidate running against Roger Garrison this year. David Waters said his signs have been vandalized since December 2010, three months after he announced his run for sheriff.

“We have had our signs ripped down, we have had them cut, we have had holes punched through them, and including arrows shot from a bow where they still remain,” Waters said.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the signs on Highway 140 had been vandalized with a bow and arrow.

Georgia Perimeter College, the state's third-largest public college, plans layoffs of up to 280 people, according to media reports.

The job reductions affect 215 full-time employees and 67 part-time workers, Georgia Perimeter Interim President Rob Watts said in a campus-wide email. The college employs about 3,110 people.

The two-year school is trying to cope with what could be a $25-million deficit next year, the media reports say.

Andrea Sneiderman is suing her brother-in-law for slander and libel according to a lawsuit, reports wsbtv.com.

The lawsuit is the latest in a volley of actions since Andrea Sneiderman's boss, Hemy Neuman, was convicted in the slaying of Russell Sneiderman, her husband.

Since the conviction, Steve Sneiderman, Rusty Sneiderman's brother, has said that Andrea Sneiderman was involved in the murder.
