UPDATE: One Dead After Three-Vehicle Crash in Forsyth County

A school bus was involved in the three-vehicle collision that took the life of a 43-year-old woman.

UPDATE: Friday, March 8, 12:32 p.m.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office continues its investigation of a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 9 and North Old Atlanta Road in which one person died late Thursday afternoon.

Lesia Elaine Bennett, 43, of Berry Court in Cumming, was transported to Northside Hospital-Forsyth where she was pronounced dead, according to Deputy First Class Michael Nelson of the FCSO.

The fatal wreck happened around 4:48 p.m. following a collision between a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Bennett and a 2004 Nissan Titan, driven by Antonio Aguilera Mora, 17, of Park Place in Cumming. DFC Nelson said Mora was traveling southbound on Highway 9 in his vehicle while Bennett was traveling eastbound on North Old Atlanta Road. When both vehicles reached the intersection they collided. The impact forced Bennett's vehicle into the front passenger side of a school bus that was stopped at the traffic light on Highway 9.

The Forsyth County School bus, being driven by Sheila Trowell, 46, of Kelly Mill Road, in Cumming, was waiting at the traffic light preparing to make a left turn onto North Old Atlanta Road. Trowell was not injured and there were no students on board the bus. There were also no other passengers in the other two vehicles.

Mora was transported to Northside Hospital-Forsyth where he was treated and released. DFC Nelson said Bennett was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision, but Mora was wearing his seatbelt.

The roadway remained closed for about two hours, reopening at 6:50 p.m.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time and no charges have been filed.

It's really sad however, it does not take rocket science to see that someone ran a light. Old Atlanta road is not a speedway. Draw your own conclusions. I love off Old Atlanta btw.
