Scholarship Pageant, Miss UGA 2012 Crowned

Kayla McIntosh, a senior health promotion major from Cumming, was awarded the Floreida Harrell Miss Congeniality Scholarship for the second consecutive year.

 

A third year public relations major and music business student is the new Miss University of Georgia 2012.

Shelby McLeod of Madison, Ga. was crowned Saturday night, Oct. 8, during the annual scholarship pageant held in the Tate Student Center in Athens.

McLeod will compete in the Miss Georgia Pageant in June 2012 and the winner of that pageant will go on to the Miss America Pageant.

Other honors were awarded to:

First runner-up, Jennifer Johnson, a fourth-year advertising major from Marietta

Second runner-up and best interview, Abby Killough, a fourth-year communication sciences and disorders major from Bainbridge

Third runner-up, Lia Racanelli, a fourth-year publication management major from Lynchburg, Va.

Fourth runner-up Courtney Giebler, second-year pre-pharmacy major from Fayetteville

The Miss University of Georgia Scholarship Pageant, sponsored by the Student Government Association, is a preliminary pageant for the Miss America Pageant Organization.
