18 year old girl...hmm, let me guess, a cell phone or make-up was involved. Hopefully it haunts her for the rest of her life since the courts will, most likely, let her go with a slap on the wrist. She'd get in more trouble if she had ran over someone's pet. Pathetic.

Lifting the Padgett family and Quarles family up in prayers!!! I have a 15-yr old new driver who was driving through our neighborhood and turned to look at something she had passed for a split second and was on the other side of the road. Given an oncoming car wasn't a situation for us I let it happen and used it as an example of how quickly taking your eye off the road could result in something serious - either her hurting someone or being hurt herself if she would have been on a main road and there had been oncoming traffic. I know both families are hurting deeply over this tragedy. I also know this young lady will have to live with this for the rest of her life! Unless your name is God, keep your judgement calls to yourselves - it serves nothing more than to cause more hurt and pain to an already horrible situation. And BTW - there are kids that do not text and drive or put makeup and drive - and to be honest most of those offenders are adult drivers! Even experienced drivers have ooops moments and then probably say "Thank God I didn't just have a wreck" Instead, pray for both families - that is what I choose to do...

My heart aches for everyone involved, both families, their friends and loved ones. A horrific tragedy. Praying for all.

Johnny was my blood cousin, but more like a brother to me. We golfed, hunted, and fished together most of my life. More than anything we laughed and joked whenever we were together. Even though I miss him so so much, I would love to talk to this young girl. I would tell her that forgiveness has to start with herself. She has the choice to have this break her life or use it to help others in the future. It is a tragic event, but nothing happens in this world by mistake. This young woman is in my prayers that God would help her through her pain.

Jethro, this young lady is my daughter and I can't thank you enough for your words. We did not know your cousin but he will forever be a part of our life. This is not easy for either family and our hearts break for your family's loss and our own grief as well. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Again thank you for your kind words, the judgement that people are throwing at my baby girl is heartwrenching and I hope they never find themselves in a similar situation. I'm sure this young lady will be sad the remainder of her long life. Imagine waking up every morning with this weighing on your soul. So sad for everyone. I truly hope this lovely young lady deals with this and takes the love and thoughts of everyone in this community as a sign of support. This tragic event could have been a plan to make something extremely special of this young lady.

Johnny was related to my wife but he also was a dear friend to me. We hunted together and sometimes worked on a vehicle together. He always found humor in everything he did and it was contagious. I will miss him badly, however there are two victims in this tragedy and Kayley I pray for you as well as the Padgett family. I pray that God will bless you with the power to use this unfortunate incident to help others and that you also can find the strength to forgive yourself and be a positive example to others. I for one have already forgiven you.

I also left a comment on the Forsyth County News as well but my name is Susan and I was married to Johnny for 21 years and this has completely devastated his son and I. The punishment thank God is out of anyone's hands but the state's and the Judge so therefore we have no control over what is going to happen. However, I would love to see this turn out in a positive manner for all who are touched and involved by this accident. I don't know all the details as of yet, I realize that it is still being investigated but I do know some. Maybe she can be an advocate for those who ride motorcycles and raise awareness. Talk to young kids with little experience how to watch and be ever mindful of your surroundings. We all have to answer for the things we do, intentionally or not and it could have a positive response in the end.

Susan, you and your son have been on our hearts and in our prayers. We are both mothers with children whose lives have been forever changed by this tragedy. May God help us to be strong and find his way through all of this.

Wow...I'm speechless. I'm sorry, but I can't seem to get past her happy little mug shot face. She has just killed a man...he died at the scene, and by looking at her smiling, posing and her proud expression you would think she just had the night of her life. Not the 1st glimmer of remorse showing in her eyes...in fact the opposite....wow! Yeah, I just can't imagine why people are "judging". I work at a convience store with her smiling face in front of me all day. As an fyi.... Every single person coming in that store seeing her expression is sickened.

Wow, 2 months later and still comments being posted, seriously people, you have no idea the background of that photo, the fcso provoked that and shared it on purpose to make her look like an evil teenage kid with no remorse. Unless you have been through a traumatic event like this 18 year old child has, you have no idea how you would react. This child was in a complete state of shock and it was days before her mind allowed the reality of this accident to set in for her. You have no idea the long road ahead of her in dealing with this so all you perfect people out there keep your judgements to yourself. Maybe some of you should be her parents and have to see her tears and crying and hear her say " she wishes it had been her that died" yea, that's the harsh truth of how she really feels.

why dont you post the other mug shot.?? the first one they took of her before they provoked her to smile. you are a horrible person for putting this on here. kaley is a victim as well, she struggles everyday. she forces the smile on her face. kaley is a bright, funny, outgoing, hardworking, loving and caring person. shes a daughter, a sister, a grand daughter, a cousin and a damn good friend. none of you know her so none of you can sit here and judge her. accidents happen amd sometimes a life is taken but that does not make her a bad person! it infuriates me how rude, and hurtful people are out there. she is going to live with this hurt and pain for the rest of her life. why do you find it necessary to sit here and continue to torture her with your words? grow up! this is not an easy situation for either family. why are you making it harder? please let her be.

I got cold chills reading through all of these messages. I work with Kaley and was with her moments before all of this happened. Kaley was a true example of a hard worker. I miss her everyday. She made work so much fun...
May God Bless the victims family and her family. I still think about and pray for you guys everyday.

I know this is a little late but I was still in denial about my uncle Johnny passing. He was more like a dad, he taught me how to drive, fish and many other things and I miss him so much but I know that the girl is suffering just as much as my family is. I hope she can forgive herself and make it a reason to do something great in this world.
