We love the holidays! It's the time of year when people feel the urge to say nice things to each other, and cast a positive light on stuff that matters. Everyone is a bit more thankful and grateful to illuminate relationships. Connecting with others is something we view as an important part of healthy aging and an Active Positive Lifestyle!
Thanksgiving Day was peaceful, with no food fights caught on camera this year. However, it did whet our appetite for the scheduled feasts and incoming frenzy of family and friends we will see between now and News Year Day.
The turkey was barely cold this Thanksgiving weekend when we found ourselves scrounging through the attic in search of our most beautiful Christmas decorations. In the wink of her eye, and twitch of his nose, we had wreaths, mistletoe and stockings hung. Multiple Santas marched across the mantle. Cuddly musical “buddies” posed by the chimney with care, in hopes to sing holiday tunes for guests once they're there.
We decorated our tree with treasured ornaments collected from shared travels and adventures. With just three Christmases together, we already have identified favorite ornaments. These special ornaments prove to us that while our time together has been brief, our roots are growing and our memories are abundant! The ornaments proudly display our emotional bond!
And what’s a holiday season without lights! We rounded up a few friends and set off for Lake Lanier Islands to see the “Magical Nights of Lights” holiday light display. Favorite childhood friends illuminated our path and seemed to bring out the “kid” in all of us. We saw Puff the Magic Dragon, Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, Jack and the Beanstalk, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, and…well you can see for yourself in the video.
A final stop at the gift store found us rummaging through holiday hats and glasses, looking for just the right fashion statement to match our mood. We left for home with a new holiday mug for our collection and an ornament for the tree. From our positive point of view, this holiday season is off to a good start!
