The Internet giant, Facebook, is going public and will begin selling shares on Friday. Are you in?

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of the Facebook, is taking his company public. Investors have been abuzz since FB first announced the news. According to an Associated Press article the world's most popular social network will begin trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market on Friday. Facebook's IPO (initial public offering) is expected to be in the $34 to $38 per share. The Menlo Park, Calif. company could raise $16 billion when it goes public if the shares trade on the higher end. Has all the hype influenced your interest in the Facebook IPO? Jobless Rate Declines in Georgia

Atlanta unemployment rate dropped to 8.9 percent and in Forsyth County to 7.7 percent.

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler announced today that Georgia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined for the ninth consecutive month in April to 8.9 percent, the first time in more than three years the rate has dropped below nine percent. That rate is 7.7 percent for Forsyth County. The rate fell one-tenth of a percentage point from 9.0 percent in March. The jobless rate was 9.8 percent in April a year ago. “We now have the lowest unemployment rate, the fewest unemployed workers, and the most jobs in Georgia in more than three years,” said Butler. “Our job market continues to improve at a modest and steady rate.” The last time Georgia’s jobless rate was below nine percent was in February of 2009, when it was also 8.9 percent…

Diamond Pet Food Recalls Dog Food

The manufacturer recalled nine different brands of its dry dog food, including Kirkland Signature Foods.

Diamond Pet Foods recently expanded a voluntary recall to include batches of nine brands of dry pet food formulas manufactured between Dec. 9, 2011 and April 7, 2012 due to potential Salmonella contamination. A local reader asked about the recall, so Patch is providing this information from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). You can sign up for recall alerts from the FDA online, or subscribe to an RSS feed. In April 2012, Diamond Pet Foods initiated three voluntary recalls of Diamond manufactured dry dog food. Cumming Patch readers choose the best staycation destination in this week's Readers' Choice poll.

Our readers voted for Lake Lanier as the favorite staycation destination in and around Cumming, receiving 29 percent of the votes in this week's poll. It's not a surprise that Lake Lanier is a favorite among many, constructed in 1951, the 692 miles of shoreline offers residents and visitors a break from the daily grind. Owned and operated by the United States Core of Engineers, the lake is well known for its aqua-blue colored water and spectacular scenery. LanierWorld Adds New Features, Opens Today

The Lake Lanier Islands Resort area opens for the summer today with new attractions for 2012.

LanierWorld at Lake Lanier Islands opens today. According to an announcement from Lake Lanier Islands Resort, LanierWorld will have some new touches this year. The main one is that a Ferris wheel and Super Slide have been added to the LanierWorld beach area that debuted in 2011. "We’ve sought to create a beach-themed entertainment district on the shores of Lake Lanier that offers something for every type of guest who passes through our gates," said Lake Lanier Islands Resort CEO Mike Williams in the announcement. "We’re discovering that every time we rise to meet that demand, the demand grows even more.
