DESCRIPTION:While most people in the U.S. are preparing for holiday activ
 ities\, Cumming volunteers with Operation Christmas Child&mdash\;the wor
 ld&rsquo\;s largest Christmas project of its kind&mdash\;are filling sho
 ebox gifts with toys\, school supplies and hygiene items for needy child
 ren overseas.\nThis year-round project of international Christian relief
  and evangelism organization Samaritan's Purse\, headed by Franklin Grah
 am\, is ramping up as local businesses\, churches and community groups p
 repare to collect 15\,800 gift-filled shoeboxes during National Collecti
 on Week (now through Monday\, Nov. 19).\nAnyone can drop off a packed sh
 oebox at North Lanier Baptist Church located at 829 Atlanta Highway in C
 umming during the following hours:\n\nTuesday\, Nov.      13\, from 9 a.
 m. to 7 p.m. \nWednesday\, Nov.      14\, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.\nThursda
 y\, Nov.      15\, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.\nFriday\, Nov. 16\,      from 9
  a.m. to 2 p.m.\nSaturday\, Nov.      17\, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.\nSunday
 \, Nov. 18\,      from noon to 5 p.m.\nMonday\, Nov. 19\,      from 8 a.
 m. to 10 a.m.\n\nThen\, using whatever means necessary&mdash\;trucks\, t
 rains\, boats\, bikes and even elephants&mdash\;the shoe box gifts will 
 be hand delivered to hurting children in 100 countries around the world.
 \nIn 2012\, Operation Christmas Child expects to reach a milestone&mdash
 \;collecting and delivering shoeboxes to more than 100 million children 
 since 1993. During that time\, Operation Christmas Child has collected m
 ore than 94 million shoebox gifts and hand-delivered them to suffering c
 hildren in more than 130 countries.\nThis year\, Operation Christmas Chi
 ld hopes to collect another 9 million gift-filled shoeboxes. Through the
  power of a simple gift and the message of hope through Jesus Christ\, c
 hildren learn they are loved and not forgotten. For many children\, the 
 shoebox gift will be the first gift they have ever received.&nbsp\;\nOpe
 ration Christmas Child uses tracking technology to allow participants to
  &ldquo\;follow&rdquo\; their box to the destination country where it wi
