Cumming, GA – According the most recent census, Forsyth County has over 12,000 adults who do not have a high school or general equivalency diploma (GED). Now, thanks to Literacy Forsyth, adults seeking their GED can do so a little closer to home.
Literacy Forsyth has partnered with Little Mill Middle School to offer the community free general equivalency degree (GED) classes. The classes began in February and are ongoing.
“We believe it’s important to help people get their GED because it improves our community overall,” Annaliza Thomas, executive director of Literacy Forsyth said. “With a GED, people have access to more of the things that keep families healthy, happy and safe.”
Thomas added that the program will also offer students help beyond the GED exam such as applying to technical school or assistance with job search and resume workshops.
Potential students can find out more about the program from 5 – 5:30 p.m.at Little Mill Middle School on Thursdays. Prior registration is not necessary and students can register and begin studying the same day. All the classes and materials are offered at no charge.
