Cumming Resident Honored with Prestigious Nursing Award

As a registered nurse, Sarah Bashor has provided care within the inpatient unit of the Aflac Cancer Center for more than five years.

Sarah Bashor, a pediatric oncology nurse at the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center and Cumming resident, has been honored with the Laura Snitzer Boozer nursing award. This award is given to nurses who have demonstrated professional excellence and leadership in pediatric cancer care and provides financial support for continued education in the field of oncology.

The award is given in memory of Laura Snitzer-Boozer, an Aflac Cancer Center nurse who died unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm in 1999. After Boozer’s death, many individuals including close friends of the family, donated funds to create the Laura Snitzer Boozer Nursing Fund for Continued Education.

"Being a part of Aflac Cancer Center inpatient unit has been more than I could have ever expected," said Sara Bashor, R.N., B.S.N.  "I work with top notch nurses who share a true passion for our patient population, and I'm truly blessed to be recognized by them."

As a registered nurse, Bashor has provided care within the inpatient unit of the Aflac Cancer Center for over five years. Bashor received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Brenau University. She currently resides in Cumming, GA with her husband and two daughters.
