CUMMING, Ga. -- Angered by comments posted on David Hole's campaign Facebook Page, that he says are untrue, Forsyth County Republican Party Chairman Brad Wilkins has invited Hole's opponent, District 3 Commissioner Todd Levent, to deliver a speech prior to the April 24th debate.

The statements that caused the chairman's blood pressure to boil were that Hole agreed to an April 24th debate and that the Republican Party changed the date of that debate without notifying his campaign.

Wilkins said neither statement is true and that he offered Hole multiple dates on which to debate Levent, but Hole declined.

On Friday, Wilkins issued an official statement that read: "Mr. Hole misconstrued the events that led up to the cancellation of the District 3 Commissioner’s debate. Mr. Hole’s comments completely ignored a personal conversation that I had with him on this subject."

Levent said he would be happy to speak at the April 24th debate and that he was pleased that Hole was being penalized for making false statements.

"The truth is he's afraid to debate me," Levent said. "He was pushed into this campaign by the two commissioners who want to see me defeated because I oppose their agenda for rampant, out-of-control growth. My opponent is a high-density developer whose main reason for running is to benefit his development company."
