Zereini: "I Won't be Intimidated. Our Fundraiser Will Go On"

CUMMING, Ga. -- Forsyth County Solicitor-General Donna Gopaul today attemped to use the power of her office to halt a Texas Hold 'em fundraiser scheduled by her opponent tomorrow night at Stars and Strikes in Cumming.

Gopaul directed her Chief Assistant Inez Grant to file a complaint with Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper challenging the legality of the fundraiser scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

"I've spoken to the sheriff and he told me he has no intention of interferring," Zereini said.

"This ridiculous complaint proves what we have said all along. She is an inexperienced prosecutor incapable of handling the enormous responsbilities of the office of Solicitor.

Our fundraiser is no different to one hosted by Sheriff Piper during his 2012 campaign or by the Forsyth County Republican Party on numerous occasions. I have no intention of allowing her to abuse the power of her office to intimidate me in a desperate attempt to salvage her failing campaign. We will go forward with our fundraiser as planned."

Jim, you need to do something about that reading comprehension problem of yours. Sheriff Piper held the exact same fundraiser when he campaigned in 2012. The Republican Party has held the same fundraisers and the Rotary Club held a Monte Carlo Night recently. Obviously no laws are being broken. All that is going on here is an abuse of power by an inexperienced Solicitor-General who lied about being a Republican.

Jim, I see you have made 2 comments on the Patch. Are you perhaps Josh Jones, Ms. Gopaul's campaign manager doing some damage control? Anyway, Josh, can you point out exactly what law candidate Gopaul alleges was broken?

Even though this complaint was a bit misguided, it probably is a violation if you read through Georgia Code 16-12-21 thru 16-12-26. This would be a misdemeanor which is exactly the kind of law Susan Zereini would be required to enforce. The Sheriff used discretion and wisdom not to move forward during the election cycle, but that doesn't take away from Susan Zereini's poor judgement. Susan Zereini's own website says that she was let go from Pickens County as an ADA. Anyone know why? Here's Susan's actual record: 2009 - Moved to Georgia from New York. 2009 - Job with Cherokee County 2011 - Job with Pickens County 2012 - Private Practice 2013 - Running for office Four jobs in 4 years? Susan Zereini's horrible track record.

"JJ" as in Josh Jones? Has your candidate fallen so far that you have resorted to anonymous negative postings? In the middle of the night no less...maybe with a bit of a sugar buzz going from the kool-aid? Why, JJ, would you support a Democrat like Gopaul? Is it because you were told to do it by your boss lady? Is it because you really are a closet Democrat? Does your firm not care about the quality of a client or do you need clients so bad you'll take anyone?

Norris - that makes about as much sense as Susan Zereini's candidacy. Josh Jones is going to go anonymous as JJ? How much time did you spend trying to put that together? Tell me, O Norris, didn't a bunch of Democrat legislators switch parties in the last 10 years? We, Republicans, were besides ourselves with excitement over the switch. That shows that this has nothing to do with Republican or Democrat - most of us would rather pick a conservative Southern Democrat than a liberal Northeast Republicans. These are the same people that gave us Michael Bloomberg and Lincoln Chaffee. New Yorker Susan Zereini and Bill Johnson then got their minions to play the race card on Facebook groups.
