Sheriff Rejects Donna Gopaul's Complaint About Susan Zereini's Friday Night Fundraiser

Editor's Note: The following is a press release issued by the Susan Zereini for Solicitor-General campaign.

Zereini: "I Won't be Intimidated. Our Fundraiser Will Go On"

CUMMING, Ga. -- Forsyth County Solicitor-General Donna Gopaul today attemped to use the power of her office to halt a Texas Hold 'em fundraiser scheduled by her opponent tomorrow night at Stars and Strikes in Cumming.

Gopaul directed her Chief Assistant Inez Grant to file a complaint with Forsyth County Sheriff Duane Piper challenging the legality of the fundraiser scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday.

"I've spoken to the sheriff and he told me he has no intention of interferring," Zereini said.

"This ridiculous complaint proves what we have said all along. She is an inexperienced prosecutor incapable of handling the enormous responsbilities of the office of Solicitor.

Our fundraiser is no different to one hosted by Sheriff Piper during his 2012 campaign or by the Forsyth County Republican Party on numerous occasions. I have no intention of allowing her to abuse the power of her office to intimidate me in a desperate attempt to salvage her failing campaign. We will go forward with our fundraiser as planned."
