Walker Decides Not to Qualify for House District 25 Race

CUMMING, Ga. Bill Walker, who announced last month he would campaign for the Georgia House of Representatives against incumbent Mike Dudgeon, has withdrawn from the race.

Walker cited work and family responsibilities as the reason he chose to not qualify ahead of thenoon deadline on Friday.

"My family fully supported my running for office," Walker said. "However, because changes in work and family obligations since announcing my campaign would have placed an undue hardship on them, I decided it would be best to withdraw at this time. I am still very much opposed to Common Core and I am hopeful that the incumbent, who I agree with on many other issues, will carefully weigh its impact on our students and our school system in the future."

Walker said his short lived campaign was a positive learning experience and that he would not rule out running for public office in the future.

"I believe my brief appearance in the race had a positive impact.  I look forward to running for an office in the future. Serving the people of Forsyth County would be a very great honor."
