Williams for Senate Campaign Violates Campaign Sign Laws

CUMMING, Ga -- Michael Williams, one of four candidates for Georgia State Senate in District 27, says he wants to strengthening state ethics laws to hold elected officials more accountable.

But apparently Williams believes those tough new ethics laws, or any laws for that matter, should not apply to him.

Williams campaign workers could be seen this weekend placing hundreds of his campaign signs in right of ways throughout Forsyth County, some of them within inches of the roadway. The signs could be seen on the entrance and exit ramps on Ga. Hwy. 400 and along Peachtree Parkway, Hwy. 20 and Bethelview Road.

Jack Schiff, one of Williams' opponents, said, "This was an intentional violation of the law. Two or three signs placed in the right of way could be blamed on oversight, but not this many.

"His willingness to violate the law makes it pretty clear that when it comes to ethics reform, he will be part of the problem, not the solution. Michael should apologize to the citizens for choosing to ignore the law."
