Bears Draw Attention in South Forsyth Neighborhood

A group wanders through a residential area.

By Steve Burns

A group of bears spotted off McGinnis Ferry Road in the Suwanee area of south Forsyth County drew notice from homeowners and sightseers alike.

According to media reports, a group of four bears—possibly a mama bear and her cubs—were seen late Wednesday in and around the Shakerag Farms subdivsion.

"I'm not sure if they were searching for food or what they were doing," Shakerag Farms resident Rob Moravek told 11 Alive. "They could have just been trying to find a way out of the subdivision."

Moravek's home surveillance cameras recorded the bears on the subdivision streets. Also, seems one of the bears climbed a tree in a wooded area nearby, while the others rolled on their backs.

Of course, it's not uncommon for bears to venture into residential areas in this area in a search for food.
