Celebrating Hope on 9/11 at the Cumming Fairgrounds
Remember 9/11 at the Forsyth Family Fest, a free one day event held this Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Cumming Fairgrounds.
This year's Family Fest falls on a very meaningful day for Americans and their families. The festival is always held on the second Sunday of Sept., and since the date of this year's event falls on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the focus of this year's Family Fest is to remember the victims of 9/11.
This year's festival also gives the community an opportunity to thank Forsyth County First Responders, celebrate American freedoms, and find hope despite the memories of the senseless tragedy in New York in 2001.
The Family Fest will host a morning community worship service, an afternoon of activities for the entire family and an evening community patriotic program. Food and concessions of nearly every flavor will be available for purchase. The festival will conclude with a professional fireworks display featuring more than 400 shells, set to music.

"The first two years of Family Fest have been amazing examples of local churches in Forsyth County coming together to share the Good News of Jesus Christ," says festival vendors and Community Coordinator, Steve Jackson.
"This year we will continue to emphasize the Christian message, but regardless of creed, everyone's world was altered on 9/11, therefore we are pleased to offer this venue for the community to come together and remember--and to find hope in the midst of hopelessness," adds Jackson.

"In previous years, the attractions portion of the festival had been mainly geared towards children and youth. This year, in addition to having more attractions than ever in our kid zone and teen zone areas, we are erecting a 9/11 museum featuring paintings and drawings by
local students, photos and newspaper headlines, and other multi-media from that fateful day." explains Jackson.
"There is much more for adults to see and experience this year--and best of all, everything (except food) is free!"
No matter how busy your schedule is, make family time your priority on 9/11. There's something for everyone, and you'll leave with a sense of camaraderie unique to Americans on this very special day.
