Census: Forsyth Among Nation's Leaders in Housing Growth

The county added 2,085 homes between July 1, 2012, and July 1, 2013 to bring the number of housing units to 68,239.

Census Bureau statistics released Thursday show that in the year to July 2013, Forsyth County was the 13th fastest growing county in the nation by percentage of housing units.

Williams County in North Dakota, located in the state's western oil patch, demonstrated more housing development than any other U.S. county, as it grew up 15.6 percent. Β

Forsyth County grew at 3.2 percent, but actually added more housing units than Williams County (1,984 units), which began with fewer houses.

Forsyth is one of just three Georgia counties in the top 100 nationally with Columbia at No. 36 and Bryan at No. 64.

Forsyth was the fastest growing county in Georgia between 2012 and 2013, as it grew by 4 percent during that stretch of time by adding 7,478 new residents.
