Two businesses located on Parkway North Drive are combining their talents to help raise money for a Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy who was wounded in the line of duty.

Deputy Daniel Rush was shot in the leg during the June 6 attack on the Forsyth County Courthouse by Dennis Ronald Marx. Sheriff Duane Piper credited Rush with saving lives that day by refusing to allow Marx to enter the courthouse.

Since Rush's heroics, businesses across Forsyth County have helped raise funds for Rush with traditional events, but the Parkway Drive North fundraiser will be anything but traditional.

On July 12 at 7:30 a.m., CrossFit Dynamo and Bulls Eye Marksman Gun Club will challenge fundraiser participants to literally take their best shot at avoiding a grueling workout.

According to Forsyth County News, anyone who pays the $40 entrance fee to the event can participate in a CrossFit workout that is scaled to their fitness level. People who want to help Deputy Rush are not obligated to participate in the event.

Fundraiser attendees who want to take up the CrossFit challenge will have one extra incentive; those participants who are able to accurately shoot a target with a handgun or bow and arrow are allowed to do fewer "burpees" at the end of their exercise.

Terry Crenshaw, a representative of the CrossFit location, told Forsyth County News that he hopes local first responders will flock to participate in the event to challenge their bodies and to help a brother in need.
