Lottery ticket was purchased at Bagwell & Spears.

Michael Whatley's wallet just got fatter. The Cumming resident has won $1.5 million after purchasing a Georgia Lottery ticket at Bagwell & Spears in Cherokee County.

Whatley purchased a ticket in the new instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks at the convenience station located at 6135 Hickory Flat Road.

He claimed his prize July 26 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to Georgia education. All profits pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program.
