Cumming Named One of the Top BBQ Cities in U.S.

Cumming has a barbecue restaurant for nearly every 1,000 residents.

If you ever wondered where the best BBQ can be found in the Atlanta metro area, heck in the U.S., it's right here in Cumming.

Livability.com, a website that highlights more than 500 of America's best places to live, visit, work, play and explore, has released a list of the 'Top 10 Best BBQ Cities – Surprisingly Great Places for BBQ.'

Cumming ranked as the tenth best city for BBQ.

While much has been written about the BBQ that's hot off the pit in cities like Memphis, Austin, Chicago and Kansas City, the editors of the website purposely strayed from the herd, instead concentrating on those lesser known cities with a large and loyal local barbecue fan base, a press release stated.

"So when a list of the best BBQ cities was proposed, it was decided that we wouldn't take the easy route of listing the usual suspects. Instead we'd go mining for those gems that the rest of the country might not yet have discovered."

How did Cumming make the list?

The website stated it's the city's incredible ratio of barbecue restaurants to residents. There is a barbecue restaurant for nearly every 1,000 residents (based on numbers from Yelp and the U.S. Census).

Plus let's not forget that Cumming is host to the . Que’n in Cumming, as it's known, is part of the Georgia Barbeque Championship series. The Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctions this competition. This year the event is slated for November 16 and 17 at the .
