Current GA 400 Work in Forsyth, Fulton Wraps Up this Weekend

The construction of a third lane on Georgia 400 northbound from the McGinnis Ferry Road overpass to the Big Creek Greenway Bridge in Forsyth County will be completed and open for use on Saturday morning, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The work to widen and extend the entrance ramp from Abernathy Road to Georgia 400 northbound in North Fulton will also wrap up on Saturday.

And for many commuters the completion of the work is coming at a good time.

“These projects will improve the overall operation of State Route 400 north by enhancing efficiency and increasing capacity," said Georgia DOT Commissioner Keith Golden. "The longer and wider ramp from Abernathy Road allows more vehicles to merge onto 400 more quickly. The additional two miles of a third lane on 400 north will aid motorists traveling farther into Forsyth County."

Both projects were expected to be completed in the new year and cost about $3.37 million.

"We are proud to finish this work two months ahead of the Jan. 31, 2013 completion date. Improving traffic flow and doing it ahead of schedule is our holiday gift to the users of State Route 400,” said Golden.
