Fall Basketball Academy Registration Underway

Parents can now register their children for the Fall Basketball Academy, which starts in September.

Time is drawing closer for Forsyth County's Fall Basketball Academy.

Parents can now register their child athletes between the ages of 5 and 12 for the academy, whose classes are open to first-time players as well as athletes who participated in the 2013 Spring Academy, the 2012 Fall Academy and the 2012 Spring Academy.

Registration for the initiative is ongoing and will continue through Aug. 30. Registration applications are being taken at recreation centers at Central Park, Fowler Park and Old Atlanta Park between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Athletes will learn the fundamentals of basketball, such as dribbling, passing, shooting and defensive moves.

The academy is part of the agency's three-year initiative, which combines its spring and fall basketball academy with the county's Winter Competitive League as "an effort to offer youth athletes the chance to discover their talents on the court," the county said in a press release.
