Flavors of Forsyth Promises Fun and a Full Belly

Food Festival to be held at The Avenue, featuring 40-plus eateries and live music.

The weather has been iffy, school is winding down, and people are scrambling, but one event this week remains a sure bet for good food and a fantastic time--Flavors of Forsyth at The Avenue!

This second annual food festival will be presenting so many different foods and restaurants, there may just be too many to choose from. And that's a good thing.

Benefiting the , admission is free; tickets for food, drinks and activities are just 50 cents each. Local fare from around Cumming will be offering appetizers, entrees, and desserts in snack-size portions, under tents and umbrellas.

Enjoy live music from Last Five Standing, and try out some of Forsyth's favorite restaurants. Cumming resident Morgan Compton plans to expand her palate with a few new menu items.

"My first stop will be Jim and Nick's Barbeque, but I really want to try Tin Drum and Buckhead Pizza Company. I'm most excited to visit the Chepe's booth--my favorite."

Among Forsyth County diners, Chepe's is a popular choice for those that plan to attend Flavors of Forsyth. Denise Wood, a regular Chepe's patron, is focused on the fajitas they will be serving.

"The fajitas are my absolute favorite, and I'm hoping they bring out their Chipotle Taco too. I might not leave their tent," she says.

Fagan's Biscuit Barn, once featured on the Food Network, will be offering their famous biscuits and gravy.

More than 40 restaurants will be participating. There will also be a Kid Zone and other sponsors offering giveaways and prizes.  Included eateries are:

In 2010, The Culinary Competition Winners were chosen in four categories: Best Appetizer/Salad (Chef Kern's Fine Foods,) Best Casual Entree (Construct-A-Burger,) Best Fine Dining Entree (Spondivits,) and Best Dessert (South Forsyth High School Culinary Arts). With more vendors participating this year, it should be a healthy competition between many amazing eateries.

Additionally, many venues located in The Avenue will be hosting events to compliment this festival.
