Dense Fog Advisory for North Georgia Roads

Big Creek near the city is causing minor flooding in the area.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a dense fog advisory which is in effect until 10 a.m. Visibility will be reduced to a quarter of a mile or less at times through the morning commute.

"Sudden reductions in visibility will make for hazardous travel conditions this morning," the National Weather Service advisory said.

The local forecast said to expect widespread dense fog before 11 a.m.

The National Weather Service advises motorists to slow down and use your headlights while leaving plenty of distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you.

Big Creek near Cumming was reportedly at 4.26 feet at 4:45 a.m. and falling slowly. The creek's waters reached 8.24 feet at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 19, before starting to fall. 

Flood stage for Big Creek is 6 feet.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening and some of those storms can produce heavy rainfall. New rainfall amounts could vary between three quarters to an inch.
