Forsyth County Blood Drives this Weekend

The American Red Cross is asking the community to come together and donate blood this weekend at two locations in Cumming.

As part of Red Cross Month, the American Red Cross is asking the Cumming and Forsyth community to become an everyday hero and donate blood this weekend.

“Red Cross Month is an ideal time for people to show support for our mission,” said Mario Sedlock, interim CEO of the Southern Blood Services Region. “Anyone can become an Everyday Hero by giving blood or platelets, becoming a volunteer, making a financial donation or taking a class.”

Friday, March 1

Forty-five donors are needed at the Cumming Service Center Family Life Center (old hospital) located at 133 Samaritan Drive. The blood drive will be held in the conference room until 3 p.m.

Saturday, March 2

Eighty-five donors are needed at Friendship Baptist Church located at
2250 Friendship Circle. The blood drive will be held in the Family Life Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saint Brendan's Catholic Church located at 4633 Shiloh Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Monday, March 11

North Forsyth High School located at 3635 Coal Mountain Road from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

March was first proclaimed Red Cross Month in 1943 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Since that time, every president, including President Barack Obama, has designated March as Red Cross Month. The organization has been helping people for more than 130 years.
