Forysth County's New Senior Center Officially Opens

A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Friday, Sept. 30, officially opens county's third senior services facility.

Forsyth County's third senior services facility, Sexton Hall Enrichment Center, officially opened on Friday, Sept. 30.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by the Board of Commissioners along with many residents and Shelley Johnson, Director of .

“We are very excited to open up this facility,” said Johnson, in an earlier news release.

The new center offers active adults who are 50 and older an array of activities including, art, music, drama, continuing education, technology, fitness and leisure activities.

According to Johnson, seniors living in South Forsyth County will now have a center of their own.

“It will allow us to better serve our seniors in the south portion of the county, and will also allow us to provide programs focused on life-long learning for our community’s active adults," she said.

Sexton Hall is located at 2115 Chloe Road, just off of Sharon Road between Peachtree Parkway and Old Atlanta Road (formerly the location of Lakeland Community Church). The other two Senior Services facilities; the Center at Charles Place is located at 595 Dahlonega Highway and the Hearthstone Lodge Community Center is located at 7305 Lanier Drive.

The acquisition and renovation of the property was funded by the current Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax program, SPLOST VI.
