Free Prostate Cancer Screenings Thursday in Cumming

Georgia Highland Medical Services along with Northside Hospital-Forsyth holds free prostate cancer screenings Thursday.

It's estimated that nearly 100 men in Forsyth County, more than 6,000 in Georgia will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

To help raise awareness of this most frequently diagnosed cancer in men, , in collaboration with Georgia Highland Medical Services (a non-profit Community Health Center) are offering free prostate cancer screenings Thursday.

Local health care professionals will screen adult men for symptoms of the disease and offer free PSA (protein specific antigen) blood tests and digital rectal exams at no charge.

For uninsured men, age 40-75, who have never been diagnosed with prostate cancer, are not currently under a physician’s care for prostate-related problems and haven’t had a prostate exam within the past year, are eligible to participate. A limited number of appointments will be made available for men with insurance. 

The free prostate cancer screenings will be held at Georgia Highlands Medical Services, 260 Elm Street in downtown Cumming Thursday, March 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
