Whether you're running a 5k, want to plant a garden or attend the symphony, it's all here this weekend in Cumming and nearby communities.

Why Go: The first Friday of every month, the American Red Cross holds its Cumming Community Blood Drive. This weekend consider giving the gift of life and donate blood.

Where/When: , 4155 Drew Rd, Cumming, Sat., March 5, 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. run/walk

Why Go: Jog into Spring with a 5K (jog or walk) and help Jacob's Journey. Jacob’s Journey is a Forsyth County Organization raising funds to help Jacob Helvey, a 3-year-old boy injured on Dec. 24. He now faces an incredibly difficult journey to return to health and your participation will benefit this cause.

Pricing: $30 for adults & $20 for kids


WHAT:

Where/When: 9135 Willeo Rd, Roswell, Sat. March 5,  10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why Go: Want to build the garden of your dreams? Saturday the  is hosting a hands-on how-to vegetable gardening in its Unity Garden. Just in time for spring planting, this fun and educational presentation will cover such topics as seasonal vegetable selection, proper soil preparation, seed-starting and double-digging. Fred Conrad of the Atlanta Community Food Bank will be the guest speaker.

WHAT:

Where/When: , 5575 State Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, Sat., March 5, 8 p.m.

Why Go: Join the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra as it presents “Virtuoso Strings". This performance will include Mozart's Serenade, K. 525, "Eine Kleine Nacht Musik" (A Little Night Music), Samuel Barber's  Adagio for Strings, Op. 11 and Dvorak., plus Astor Piazzolla!
