Get Out: Things To Do This Weekend

Hop into spring with an Easter Egg Hunt, an Earth Day Festival, an Arts Festival or huge 5K run through a quarry.

Where/When: 1200 Northside Forsyth Dr, Cumming, (Lafarge Quarry & Northside Hospital-Forsyth), Saturday April 16, starts at 9 a.m.

Why Go: The Healthcare Association of Forsyth County and Lafarge team up with the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department to emphasize the Association's Envision a Fit Forsyth program on community health and wellness.  Proceeds from the Boulder Dash 5K go directly to the Parks and Recreation Department to create an Envision a Fit Forsyth fitness program within the Big Creek Greenway. The Lafarge Spring Fling follows the race and features: A t-shirt contest, team/company tent rentals, food/beverages, and awards.

Price: $25 to $40 pending on sign up date

Where/When: , 4075 Spot Rd, Cumming, Saturday April 16, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Why Go: Climbing a tree can provide fun and a great workout for the entire family. Climbers will be given instruction and guidance while climbing trees at the Sawnee Mountain Preserve Visitor Center (SMPVC). All equipment will be provided. For ages 8 and up.

Price: The cost is $30.00 for county residents, $36.00 for non-county residents

Why Go: Complimentary photos with the Easter Bunny at The Avenue Forsyth in their park area. Be sure to bring your camera!

Where/When: , 9135 Willeo Rd, Roswell, Saturday April 16, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Why Go: The whole family will enjoy many ways to connect to nature and learn fun new ways to help the planet. There will be interactive booths and exhibits, live musical entertainment, live animal presentations and much more!

Price: $8 Adults, $5 Children

Where/When: S Main St, Alpharetta, Saturday and Sunday April 16-17, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Why Go: Nearly 100 artists from throughout the U.S. will be showcased at the 7th annual Alpharetta Arts StreetFest. Enjoy live jazz, roots rock and Celtic music, as well as cultural dancing and more. Free parking will be available at City Hall and Milton Center.

Price: Free to Attend

Where/When: , 3150 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, Sunday April 17, "Pre-Hunt" activities begin at 12:30 p.m., the egg Hunt begins at 1:30 p.m. sharp!

Why Go: What would spring be without an egg hunt? Children have the opportunity to hunt for thousands of filled eggs "hidden" all over Newtown Park's main soccer field, with special prize eggs in each age-group area! Enjoy face painting, moonwalk, children's activities and an opportunity to get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny at their Pre-Hunt activities. Please bring a basket to collect your eggs and a camera for pictures.
