Get Out Cumming: Arts Festival, Church

Plenty to do this weekend from fishing and golf tournaments, a walk for MADD to getting back to church and more.

AROUND CUMMING:

Where/When: Little Hall Park, Lake Lanier, off Dawnsonville Hwy, Murrayville, Saturday, Sept. 17, 6 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Have a great day fishing for Bass while also supporting a benefit to raise funds for hospitals helping kids everywhere! Cash prizes based on weight!

Price: $150 per boat

Where/When: , 4075 Spot Rd, Cumming, Saturday, Sept. 17, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go?: Lots of fun and a great workout for the whole family! Climbers will be given instruction and guidance while climbing. All equipment will be provided and is manufactured specifically for climbing. Climbers remain secured to the rope the entire time they are off the ground. Ages 8 and up.

Price: $30 for Forsyth County residents and $36 for non-county residents

Where/When: , 3074 Bethelview Rd, Cumming, Sunday, Sept. 18, 10 a.m.

Why Go?: “Back to Church Sunday” is a national movement of churches to encourage former church people to rediscover church and try it again. According to LifeWay Research, 38 percent of people are receptive or highly receptive to attending church. Eighty-two percent say they would be open to attending church if a friend invited them. But, unfortunately only two percent of active church-going Christians invited someone to church last year! Sts. Raphael, Nicholas, and Irene Greek Orthodox Church is joining with thousands of churches to help change those statistics by inviting everyone to attend church on Sunday, Sept. 18,  at 10 a.m.

AROUND ALPHARETTA:

Where/When: , 13097 Highway 9 N, Alpharetta, Saturday, Sept. 17, 8 a.m.

Why Go?: The Milton Disability Awareness Committee (MDAC) and Milton Grows Green (MGG) are proud to announce Hayden's Walk for Autism, an event to raise awareness and funds for Autism.

Price: Donations Accepted

Where/When: , 13025 Birmingham Hwy, Alpharetta, Saturday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m.

Why Go?: Join 2011 Milton High School Cross Country Invitational 5K Community Race on the official Milton High School Cross Country Course. The course is a looped course that is set entirely in the woods and school grounds of Milton High School. The run is a fund raiser for the Milton Cross Country Booster club and proceeds from the event will go towards improving and maintaining the paths on the course.

Price: $20.00 per person

Where/When: , 16043 Hopewell Rd, Alpharetta, Saturday, Sept. 17, 6:30 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Why Go?: This magical evening benefiting foster children awaits you and your friends at The Manor Golf and Country Club. Come enjoy dinner, music from CSI and a special guest speaker, Ashely Rhodes-Courter, author of a New York Times Best Selling Book “Three Little Words." The evening will also include a live and silent auction. This is the night for you to help make foster children’s dreams come true.

Price: $50 per person

AROUND JOHNS CREEK:

Where/When: The Standard Club, 230 Abbotts Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, Monday, Sept. 19, 9:30 a.m.

Why Go?: Rotary Club of Johns Creek Golf Tournament will benefit the United Way of Forsyth County.

Price: The participation fee is $200.

AROUND DULUTH:

Where/When: 11350 Johns Creek Pkwy, Duluth, GA 30098, Saturday, Sept. 17, 8:30 a.m.

Why Go?: Walk Like MADD is a 5K non-competitive family walk that raises funds to support MADD's mission of eliminating drunk driving, supporting victims and their families, and preventing underage drinking.

Price: $20 to walk or donation

AROUND ROSWELL:

Where/When: Riverside Park, 575 Riverside Rd, Roswell, Friday, Sept. 16, 7 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Why Go?: Bring a picnic along with your lawn chairs and blankets, enjoy great music, play on the playground and then settle in for movie fun with Tangled (rated PG). Movies begin at dark.

Price: Free

Where/When: Roswell's Historic Town Square, Saturday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Why Go?: This annual event, sponsored by the Roswell Recreation Association, features continuous performing arts as well as artwork and crafts for sale. There will be a continuous shuttle running from City Hall to Town Square.
